Learning Difficulties
Jolene P. Alberta, Can

I am writing a statement of my belief of the neurodevelopmental program for my son, Cameron. I am a qualified elementary school teacher but have not been in the classroom while I am raising our children. I recognized that Cam had difficulties which would hinder his ability to read early in his school experience. Although the school was as helpful as they knew how to be, it was still frustrating for both his school teachers and us, as his parents.  Educational tests only confirmed that he was having trouble (something we already knew). They, (meaning the professionals who administered the tests) could not give us any specific reasons for his difficulties but, more importantly, they could not help us with ways and methods which would help him. It was all a guessing game of "Try this --- it might help"

Hope Centre provided specific feedback on the areas of the brain which needed to be stimulated and how to do it through a PERSONALIZED program which was set out for our son after they had assessed him and his difficulties.. We were faithful in doing his program for a year and saw a great deal of growth and satisfaction in his ability to perform at school. The school also saw the change in Cam and were very receptive to any suggestions that I gave them as to how to help him in the school setting. The only regret that I have is that Cam was as old as he was before I found Hope Centre. He had experienced 8 years of frustration at school and therefore he has some very firmly imprinted negative ideas about education. He also entered the typical stage of teenage resistance to any parental suggestions which has put an end to our doing program (for now).  I still firmly believe that at some future date he will want to return to the program when he decides that it was done to help him. The beauty of the ND program is that it will still be helpful to him and anything that he has done will not be lost because he will have forged new neural pathways in the brain which will still be there. He will still use these as he functions now. Cameron has just completed his first semester of Grade 10. He passed all of his subjects, and I used to worry about even being able to get him to stay in school long enough to complete high school. He is planning on going to college and training in a vocational field. This is wonderful for us to hear.

I have no reservations in recommending Hope Centre to parents, schools or professionals because of the specific good I have seen in our experience. It gives all of these people who are involved with these kinds of children specific information and MORE IMPORTANTLY, ways that they can help these children develop and learn.
